Inventors and Patents From the City of Huntington Beach

The City of Huntington Beach is home to seven inventors who have been granted patents in the last two months. These companies include Navcom Technology, Allegiance, Metologic Instruments and Mpex Pharmaceuticals. The longest time between a patent application and grant was 1,825 days in February.

Metologic Instruments

Metologic Instruments has a patent to protect its produce weighing system. This patent, issued to nine co-inventors, covers a method and system for detecting weighing interferences. These include sand, water, and soil. This technology may one day help produce a more accurate and efficient method of produce weighing.

Navcom Technology

Inventors in Huntington Beach have recently been recognized for their work in the field of science and technology. Two patents were recently awarded to the community. One was awarded to Gen-Probe, which developed a DNA detection and amplification method. The other was awarded to Michael A. Morris, who filed a patent application on Dec. 18 in 2009.

Aside from the two Huntington Beach residents mentioned above, there is another renowned Huntington Beach resident who was awarded a patent for a cellular device that makes it possible to make calls from the car’s dashboard. His invention, named “Integrated Device Technology,” has been awarded a patent.

Mpex Pharmaceuticals

Mpex Pharmaceuticals has received patent number 7,879,795, developed by five co-inventors. The patent focuses on the method for enhancing the potency of tigecycline through the use of efflux pump inhibitors. It was filed on Aug. 1, 2007 and has been assigned to Mpex Pharmaceuticals. The patent also describes a new power converter controller IC with multiple functions and an input voltage pin.

Mpex has also been assigned a patent for its ophthalmic drug, Micrel. The patent was developed by Bernd Neumann, Maik Pohland and Dieter Kuhnel. This invention was filed on Aug. 8, 2007 and covers ocular disorders.
