Polymer composition substrates are widely used in the automotive, aerospace, and construction industries. These substrates are made by combining different types of polymers to create a material that has the desired properties for a specific application. However, the adhesion properties of these substrates can be limited, which can lead to delamination and failure of the material. Adhesion enhancers are used to improve the bonding between the different layers of the substrate, making it more durable and resistant to damage.
Polymer compositions are also used in a variety of applications, including coatings, adhesives, and sealants. These compositions are made by combining different types of polymers with other additives to create a material that has the desired properties for a specific application. Adhesion enhancers are used in these compositions to improve the bonding between the polymer and the substrate, making it more effective and long-lasting.
The market for adhesion enhancers for polymer composition substrates and polymer compositions is expected to grow significantly in the coming years. This growth is driven by the increasing demand for high-performance materials in various industries, including automotive, aerospace, and construction. The use of adhesion enhancers in these industries can improve the durability and reliability of the materials, reducing the need for maintenance and repair.
There are several types of adhesion enhancers available in the market, including silanes, titanates, and zirconates. Silanes are the most commonly used adhesion enhancers, as they are effective in improving the bonding between the polymer and the substrate. Titanates and zirconates are also effective adhesion enhancers, but they are more expensive and less commonly used.
The market for adhesion enhancers for polymer composition substrates and polymer compositions is highly competitive, with several companies offering a wide range of products. Some of the key players in this market include Evonik Industries AG, DowDuPont Inc., 3M Company, and BASF SE. These companies are investing heavily in research and development to create new and innovative adhesion enhancers that can improve the performance of polymer composition substrates and polymer compositions.
In conclusion, the market for adhesion enhancers for polymer composition substrates and polymer compositions is growing rapidly, driven by the increasing demand for high-performance materials in various industries. The use of adhesion enhancers can improve the durability and reliability of these materials, reducing the need for maintenance and repair. With the increasing investment in research and development, we can expect to see new and innovative adhesion enhancers that can further improve the performance of polymer composition substrates and polymer compositions.
The Korea Institute of Footwear and Leather Technology, Nanotech Ceramics Co Ltd invention works as follows
The present invention is an adhesion improver and a composition of polymers containing it for improving the adhesion properties of polymer substrates on primers. The adhesion improver of the invention is an organic compound such as a phenol, alcohol, or another organic compound that has a hydroxyl of the alcohol, phenol, or other organic compound and another functional group supported by a material porous, or it can be a master batch made by mixing polymer with a compound above, supported on porous material. “The polymer composition substrate that is obtained by adding more 0.5 parts by weight based on 100 part by weight polymer, shows good adhesion with a primer having a isocyanate groups without a separate process to make a coarse surface or an abrasion using an organic solvent.
Background for Adhesion Enhancer for Polymer Composition Substrate and Polymer Composition containing the Same
1. “1.
The present invention is an adhesion improver that can be added to a polymer mixture in order to enhance adhesion of polymer composition substrates obtained from the polymer composition with a primer applied. The present invention is more specifically an adhesion improver and a composition of polymer containing it, which can be used to increase adhesion between polymer substrates obtained by the polymer to primers applied to increase adhesion before applying adhesives to combine the substrates.

Generally, there are two methods of joining a plurality of substrates obtained from a polymer composition; 1) using an adhesive alone to join the substrates into a polymer substrate/adhesive/polymer substrate sandwich and 2) using both a primer and an adhesive to get a polymer substrate/primer/adhesive/primer/polymer substrate sandwich.
The second method involves coating polymer substrates with primer that can be coupled with the polymer substrates and joining them with an adhesive.
There are several methods of increasing adhesion between the adhesive and the substrates obtained from the polymer composition?promoting the adhesion performance of the adhesive, or improving the performance of adhesion-related materials such as the primer, or the like.
The most common methods used in the footwear sector are surface-processing techniques for the processing of the surfaces of the polymer substrates that will be joined and adding an adhesive-enhancing substance to the polymer composite. These methods will make the primer adhere well to the polymer substrates.
The surface of a polymer substrate is coated first with a primer, and then with an adhesive. This adhesive is then bonded to other polymer substrates.
To improve the performance, a variety primer compositions have been developed, which only adhere to polymer substrates of a certain composition, rather than any polymer substrate.
In many cases, primers, despite their improved performance, have a decreased adhesion to specific polymer substrates. Therefore, the substrate is often surface-processed prior to being coated with a prime. To improve the adhesion of the polymer substrate to primer, one polymer substrate is surface-processed differently, then coated with primer and an adhesive and bonded to other polymer substrates.
The various surface-processing techniques for polymer compositions substrates can include UV irradiation or corona discharge, acid etching and plasma, solvent cleaning as well as polishing using a polishing agent. The polishing method using a compound polishing and UV irradiation is now the most popular in the footwear industry.
The surface of the polymer substrate surface-modified using the various methods mentioned above is improved in adhesion with the primer, but it is problematically unstable to be used permanently. Moreover, there is a need to introduce a separate surface-processing line for the polymer composition substrates, resulting in a delay of manufacture, a troublesome need to consider the proceeding/succeeding process, and a resultantly increased burden of cost.
The polymer composition to enhance adhesion can be attached to rolls using a disclosed method. This method is difficult to manufacture. A composition that is so adhesion enhanced as to have a remarkable performance was never made or achieved before.
The inventors of this invention, in an effort to improve adhesion between substrates made from polymer and primers, have devised a adhesion promoter that is prepared as a medium, by supporting an organic substance capable of chemical coupling with the primer on porous materials, or an adhesion boostr in the form a master batch, which was obtained by mixing the medium above prepared with a monomer, along with a substrate polymer prepared by adding an adhesion increaser to a generic
In general, a release is used to make it easier to remove a molded product from the mold when preparing substrates out of a polymer composition. When a primer is not removed from the polymer composition surface, the substrates have poor adhesion. The adhesion of the primer to the substrates that are prepared by adding adhesion enhancer to the polymer composition is not affected when the release agent has not been removed with solvent.
This is because the porous material that supports an organic compound with a particular functional group migrates easily to the surface to adsorb or force the spread release agent in a corner.
The present invention aims to provide an adhesive enhancer in a polymer mixture for achieving good adhesion between primers and polymer composition substrates.
The adhesion improver of the invention is suited for polymer compositions which are intended to adhere to primers with an isocyanate-containing group.
The present invention also aims to provide a composition of polymer containing an adhesion promoter.
