Free Pro-Bono Patent Help in Kentucky

Whether you are looking for pro bono patent help in Kentucky or need to protect a new invention, there are several places you can get free legal assistance. Here are a few options: The Maurer School of Law in Louisville, Belmont University in Nashville, Jennifer Knight at Belmont University, and the Center for Intellectual Property Research, a non-profit organization in Nashville.

Maurer School of Law

The Maurer School of Law is one of the top law schools in the state of Indiana. It has more than thirty student organizations. Its law students participate in the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition, Jessup International Moot Court Competition, and Trial Practice Competition. It also has an active Intellectual Property Association.

As part of its efforts to support the entrepreneurial ecosystem, the Maurer School of Law’s IP Clinic provides free patent and trademark consultation services to clients in need. The law students involved in the clinic work in partnership with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) to provide free legal assistance to small businesses and nonprofits. This initiative enables students to build their professional networks and gain experience through working on real cases.

While obtaining a patent can be expensive and time-consuming, it is essential for startups to protect their ideas by protecting them with a patent. Through the Patent Pro-Bono Program at the Maurer School of Law in Louisville, Ohio, and the IP Venture Clinic at Case Western Reserve University School of Law, inventors can now receive free legal help in Kentucky. The program has recently secured its first patent for an Ohio inventor who is developing a UV lamp for medical purposes.

Belmont University

If you’re interested in pursuing a patent for your new invention in Kentucky, you can contact a patent attorney for free assistance. Patent attorneys in Kentucky must have a strong background in science and have passed the Patent Bar Examination. In Kentucky, thousands of patents are filed every day. Each patent is reviewed by a patent committee to ensure its validity and novelty. Developing an effective patent application requires carefully crafted documentation and a thorough understanding of the industry.

Fortunately, there are several organizations that offer free patent help to those who need it. Among these organizations is the Kentucky Patent Pro Bono Program. This organization pairs volunteer patent professionals with under-resourced inventors and small businesses. The nonprofit organization offers pro bono IP counseling services to help grow the entrepreneurial ecosystem by providing legal aid to those who need it most. To qualify for a free patent consultation, you must have a low-income household and be willing to pay no fees for the services.
